Sixteen kilometres from Valletta, Bugibba, is one of Malta’s busiest and most popular tourist districts. Situated in the north of the island, this seaside resort is quiet and tranquil during the winter months but bustling and busy during the summer.

Bugibba started to gain popularity at the turn of the 20th century when it was fashionable to own a second home on the coast. As a result, sea-view apartments mushroomed, transforming what was a barren tip into a hive of activity. Over the years it continued to develop, becoming popular with tourists who flocked to enjoy its picturesque seaside promenade, variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, pubs and shops. The whole area enjoys picturesque views out to sea, including St Paul’s Island, Comino and Gozo.

Today Bugibba remains a hotspot for visitors, especially as regular public transport is on hand for those wanting to explore the rest of islands.
